Curricula

The Study Plan allows you to customise the path of study, through the selection of one of four available curricula and the choice of optional courses. The curriculum choice allows you to put curricular courses in the plan for 20 total credits which explore issues related to the different areas of application of biotechnology.

In addition to the 20 credits corresponding to curricular courses, students can take advantage of the credits intended for exams chosen by the student to further characterise their studies, investigating specific issues, and he or she can obviously use the 10 credits for the training and preparation of thesis to complete the path with experience in direct contact with the laboratory or with other working realities.

The four curricula differ in 2-3 curricular courses, for a total of 20 credits, to be attended in the second semester of the second year and in the first semester of the third year. These courses provide knowledge related to a specific field of biotechnology and focus the preparation on the specific areas of application. Students enrolled in the second year must, by December 31, choose one of the four curricula provided by the program:

  • Medical curriculum, focused on applications of biotechnology in human pathophysiology, diagnostics laboratory, in the development of treatments.
  • Pharmaceutical curriculum, dealing with issues related to the development and production of drugs.
  • Alimentary Curriculum, which studies methods for the selection of foods and to study their effects on humans and animals.
  • Veterinary curriculum, which explores biotechnological issues in the veterinary medicine field.

The transition from one curriculum to another remains possible even after 31 December, but requires obtaining all credits characterising the desired curriculum.
