Course requirements

The Master requires students to pass ten compulsory classes for a total of 88 credits. Eight of these classes are made of two modules (bi-modular courses), and two are based on single-module courses. Students take six classes during the first year and four during the second year. Second-year students must earn additional 10 CFU from elective courses. Internships and preparation of a written, experimental thesis account for 22 compulsory credits. The thesis can be in Italian or in English.

Choosing the medical or the veterinary curricular area:

Students graduating in the medical curriculum acquire advanced knowledge in the biotechnological aspects of neurology, oncology, immunology and hematology.

Students choosing the veterinary curriculum acquire advanced knowledge in the biotechnology of animal reproduction, diagnostic and animal breeding.

The first and basic distinction between the veterinary and the medical curricular areas comes from two compulsory bi-modular second year courses. Optional exams, internships and the experimental thesis further distinguish the two curricular areas for an additional 32 credits, allowing graduates to acquire specific knowledge on the pathological and biotechnological processes of human or animal interest.

In order to graduate, students need to defend an experimental thesis in one of the subjects of the Master. The research work will be supervised by a UNINA professor or a lecturer and may be done outside the University, pending the approval of the specific project by the Thesis and Internship Committee.
