- What is the difference between university pre-enrolment and enrolment?

University pre-enrolment is a compulsory procedure, which is the responsibility of the Embassy and precedes the phase of issuing the study visa and the university enrolment phases; it concerns foreign students abroad and must be concluded before the student’s enrolment procedure at the chosen university.

 

Enrolment is the procedure for registering the student (matriculation): it is the responsibility of the University and is concluded after the pre-enrolment and visa issuing phases.

 

- When do the courses start?

The first semester starts on the last week of September / first days of October. The second semester on the first Monday of March. In any case, we strongly recommend arriving in Italy at least 15 days in advance to carry out all the necessary paperwork.

 

- How can I find accommodation?

Federico II University offers support through its Welcome Desk, all information can be consulted at this link: http://www.international.unina.it/welcome-desk/  

 

- How can I get a scholarship?

The Federico II University does not directly provide scholarships. The reginal agency ADISURC takes care of them. All the information is on the website (in English): https://www.adisurcampania.it/scholarships

  

- How can I reach the Faculty of Biotechnology?

The best way to reach the Faculty of Biotechnology is the subway (Line 1). The "Policlinico" stop is a five-minute walk away.

The Faculty of Biotechnology can also be reached by bus from the city center to Zona Ospedaliera stops, as “Pansini – Policlinico”, “Policlinico”, “Cardarelli Hospital”).

 

- Where is the faculty located and what is the email address?

- How much does it cost each academic year?

Non-EU students will pay only a single tax of 16 euros and a regional tax of 140 euros. The Boel can be collected in person at the Secretary office and must be paid at the bank.

 

- Do I have to bring the Permit of Stay to the Secretary?

Yes, as soon as possible. The secretary is located at the ground floor of the Biotechnology building (CESTEV) and it is open to the public each day from 9:00 to 13:00, and also on Tuesday and Thursday from 14:00 to 16:00. 

 

- How do I get the tax code?

It is not provided by the Federico II University but by the Questura when the application for the residence permit is presented. The International welcome desk may help you in obtaining the Fiscal code. - Where can I find information about the classrooms?

Each semester, the courses schedule with the relative classrooms is published on the Biotechnology website: http://www.scienzebiotecnologiche.unina.it/mediche/orario?curr=adt&canale=2

We also suggest you to download the student’s guide available on the website.

 

- Where can I find the course program?

On professors’ website pages at “Schede di insegnamento/Course description”. At the following link you can search professors name or course name: https://www.docenti.unina.it/#!/search

However, you can check also the Didactic Regulation in English, where mandatory courses are described in detail. It is published on this website at "Medical Biotechnology" section at the bottom of the page. 

 

- Is there a page dedicated to foreign students?

- Does Federico II hold Italian language courses?

Yes, each activity is managed by the Centro Linguistico di Ateneo (CLA).

- How can I get insitutional email and credentials?

To get the Unina email you must be enrolled.

If you are an Erasmus student, once you have received your student number, it will be the responsibility of  the Erasmus Office to request the activation of your email address: you will receive the instructions with the PUK to activate it directly on your personal email. You can contact Erasmus student at the email international@unina.it 

If you are an international student enrolled in Federico II university, you have to contact the Student Secretary at segrescienzebio@unina.it  

 

 

- Is there a Library service? 

The School of Medicine Library is located in Building 20: https://www.biblioteche.unina.it/medicina-e-chirurgia/

- How can I contact Professors?

- Can I ask for didactic support?

A tutoring service for exam preparation  is available to all students enrolled in the Department's degree programs (bachelor's and master's degrees) and is designed to assist students in all phases of their educational path, with the aim of promoting meaningful participation in university life in all its forms and ensuring ongoing guidance. Tutors are master's students or PhD students who support future students and new enrollees in finding their way at the beginning of a new university career.  To request the assistance of a tutor, please send an email exclusively to: TUTORMED@UNINA.IT

- If I'm a student with special needs or I need a psycological support, how can I ask for support?

Students with motor, sight, hearing and other chronic disease-related impairments can benefit from teaching aids, technical equipment and psychological counselling.

- Foreign Student Welcome Commettee and Buddy Programme:

Master degree in Medical Biotechnology has a special commission for foreign students composed by: Prof. Giorgia Oliviero, Chiara Pagliuca, Barbara Lombardo, Maurizio Renna, Stefano D’Errico and the Student Representative Morena Mormone.

 

The commission will take care of:support foreign students to better orient in the courses; provide precise information on course schedules, exam dates and formats; ensure foreign students attend didactic activities; improve integration of foreign students in academic and social life.

 

Master degree activated a Buddy programme: Italian students will help international students to get along city life and university activities.  

 

 

- Where can I do sport activities?

 

The sport activities available for students are organised and managed by the C.U.S. (University Sports Centre)

- "Federico II" museums:

The university includes a Natural Science and Physics Museum Centre made up of five museums located at a short walking distance from the university main building of Corso Umberto I.

·      Royal Mineralogy Museum

·      Zoological Museum

·      Anthropology Museum

·      Museum of Paleontology

·      Museum of Physics

These museums document the history and development of research, carried at the University of Naples in the field of natural sciences and physics since the end of the XVIII century by local scientists who achieved national and international notoriety during their time.

The centre was founded in 1992 as an independent organization for the advancement of education in the science of nature. Its activities include conservation and classification, research in the field of natural sciences and the organization of lectures, workshops and congresses for specialists as well as for ordinary people.

- Is there a canteen service?

The A.Di.S.U. Federico II releases to foreign students a rechargeable "smart card" with a fix amount of money decided by the student to access some  restaurants whose list, will be provided by ADISU.
Students can obtain the rechargeable "smart card" at the following offices:
