Description
Learning objectives: To learn key mechanisms of neoplastic transformation and new biotechnology principles of precision diagnostics and targeted therapy of cancer Contents: 1) Human neoplasia: classification, etiology, conventional and innovative diagnostic strategies. 2) Phenotypic hallmarks of cancer cells. 3) Molecular basis of cancer Cancer genome Genes and genetic lesions driving cancer formation. 4) Viral and cellular oncogenes Classification, molecular mechanisms of gain-of-function, molecular mechanisms of transforming activity. 5) Tumor suppressor genes Classification: care-takers and gate-keepers, molecular mechanisms of loss-of-function, mechanisms of tumor suppressing activity. 6) Mendelian cancer syndromes. 7) Molecular basis of invasion, angiogenesis and metastases. 8) Molecular features of selected malignancies (breast, prostate, colo-rectal, lung, head/neck and thyroid cancers; melanoma). 9) Molecular diagnosis of cancer. 10) Targeted therapy of cancer New anti-cancer drugs and clinical trials.
