Description
Learning objectives: To provide knowledge on the rational design and synthesis of biomolecules having an important biological role such as polypeptides, oligonucleotides and their analogues. Contents: 1) Organic molecules of interest Molecular recognition Drugs and enzyme receptors Natural and synthetic biomolecules. 2) Rational drug design Molecular structure investigation by spectroscopic methods - Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR). - Circular Dichroism spectroscopy - UV-VIS spectroscopy and fluorescence molecules. - X ray diffraction, molecular structure and conformation and literature data. - Mass spectrometry (MALDI and ESI) - Computational methods to obtain molecular structures; 3) Synthesis of biomolecules: Organic-chemical and enzymatic synthesis. - Solid-phase synthesis. - Combinatorial synthesis.. 4) Oligonucleotides synthesis Role and uses of Oligonucleotides as model, diagnostics and drugs Oligonucleotide analogues and conjugated at other molecules Purification 5) Peptides Role and uses of peptides Synthesis of peptides and analogues Peptidomimetics Purifications 6) Reaction and uses of Biomolecules on chip
